Central Nervous System Responses to Comfortable Thermal Stimuli to the Soles of the Feet with Simultaneous Presentation of Other Sensory Stimuli

The current study sought to examine differences in physiological responses comfortable thermal stimuli applied the soles of feet during simultaneous presentation other sensory stimuli. As relaxing stimuli, underwater movie footage, classical music, light blue illumination, vibration trunk, and odor grapefruit oil were each presented simultaneously with a stimulus. Electroencephalography parietal cerebral blood flow prefrontal cortex measured. An increase α-wave activity decrease found for all combinations compared baseline. Additionally, results revealed response speed depending on stimulus condition. However, tendency suggesting difference times condition was similar that alone. indicated stimulation has substantial effect feeling relaxation.
